The photo series »Brandenburg Collection«, presents images of more or less functional-looking shoes. At first glance, these images appear to represent the inventory of an anthropological museum. The material and the manufacturing process of the respective objects appear to afford insights into the cultural background of each shoe, and its maker. However, the shoes were actually made by Dr. Hildegund Brandenburg between 1986 and 2006, during her holiday trips. The raw material was found on-site and Dr. Brandenburg fashioned it into the exhibited objects according to a particular set of principles, which included the restriction to a limited number of components and tools.
